Hy-Vee "Demo" Beer Can Chicken


  • 1 can (12 fluid ounce) beer or pop of your choice

  • Choice of Seasoning (we use Lawry’s)

  • 1 (3-5 pound) PURE POULTRY whole chicken


  • Loosen skin from meat

  • Make a gap between breast and skin – do not remove skin

  • Sprinkle your seasonings into the gap - Spread around with your fingers

  • Sprinkle more seasoning on the outside of the skin (optional)

  • Poor half the beer can into bottom or roaster

  • Slide the beer can with rest of beer into the chicken cavity – stand chicken up

  • Tent Roaster with foil

  • Cook at 350 degrees for 1.5 to 2 hours
